  • In April, 2010, about six months after the Station Fire, re-growth has yet to appear in some of the burn areas of the in Angeles National Forest. This may be due to higher burn temperatures that killed root structure or rains that removed topsoil. Colder temperatures may also be responsible. Areas with less re-growth often have whiter soil than areas with re-growth indicating topsoil may be gone with only bedrock remaining.
